HOW CAN YOU BE A PART OF CSW 61?

Our Aim is to represent the voices of young women at the United Nations and to do this we would like to hear your thoughts.

The theme of the Commission is: women’s economic empowerment in the changing world of work, the empowerment of indigenous women and the challenges and achievements in the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals for women and girls.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to put forward your ideas to a youth statement. Your ideas will be discussed and could be included in the statement which will be delivered at the United Nations.

Some examples of the topics you might consider:

1. What do you think should be done about the gender pay gap? What does it mean to you?

2. Does the world of work discourage women from pursuing STEM subjects?

3. How can healthcare be used to empower women economically?

4. How can we encourage women in developing countries to engage in enterprise?

Or any other topics based on the theme.

Please remember to use facts and statistics to back up your points. The UN website is a great resource for this.

You can get a copy of last year's youth statement from your teacher, to help you shape your thoughts.

Each school can submit a maximum of 100 words to contribute to the statement.

Please email your thoughts to: gdstcsw61@not.gdst.net by the 3rd February 2017.

We look forward to hearing your ideas! :)
