NATIONAL COUNCIL OF YOUNG WOMEN

The National Council of Young Women (NCYW) provides a unique opportunity for young women to learn about and discuss topical issues, and to make a real contribution to improving our society.

The many schools, colleges and universities which link themselves to NCYWGB receive regular updates and have the opportunity to attend seminars. Previous seminars have been about topics such as:

 - The right to be you

 - Violence against women and girls

 - Sexual stereotyping

 - The Rights of Women and girls as agreed in UN declarations

Working with NCYW has helped us to learn about our human rights and how young women can become a force for change. In October 2016, we had the opportunity to attend the Annual Conference of the National Council of Women, where we gave a speech about the involvement of young women at Nottingham Girls' High School in NCYW. Whilst there, we met other NCYW members from across the country and enjoyed sharing our ideas with them. This has led to our involvement with NCW itself. We are particularly excited to have been invited to the welcome dinner with the International Council of Women at CSW, where we hope we will start to form links with like-minded women internationally.

Nottingham Girls' High School is currently the most active school in the National Council of Young Women.

NCYW then approached us and asked us if we would like to be part of the National Council of Women Great Britain's  delegation to CSW61. Of course, we seized this amazing opportunity and we cannot wait to meet more women involved in ICW whilst there, to see how this organisation works on an international level.
