We need you!

With each day that goes by, our knowledge of CSW is increasing. After our meeting in London with a member of the National Alliance for Women’s Organisation, the history, aims and purpose of bringing thousands of women from across the world to CSW became much clearer. The outcome document of CSW is aimed to shape action for the following year, and to inspire and encourage women and girls all over the world to act together based around a united aim.

Over the holidays, we began our research into our main topics of interest and putting preparations in place for the trip. with an invitation to attend the United Nations Youth Caucus event on Saturday 11th March, we will now be flying on the 10th March 2017... just 58 days away! With little time left to go, we are calling for YOUR help. As part of the Youth Caucus, we have the chance to contribute a youth statement which will be delivered at the United Nations. We want this to be as representative as possible, and to ensure that as many young voices as possible are considered throughout the process. Referring to our previous post, if you have any suggestions surrounding the theme of CSW61 'Women's economic empowerment in the changing world of work.' then we would love to hear your thoughts in order to put them forward in the Youth Statement. Send your ideas over to gdstcsw61@not.gdst.net.

Finally, just last night, we heard the incredible news that as well as being able to explore multiple areas surrounding women's rights through attending a series of 'parallel events' , Jenny and I have also been given the incredible chance to deliver a speech! Jenny will be focusing on leaving no one behind, relating to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's) and I will be speaking on the subject of jobs for younger people and the growing need for apprenticeships in the work place in order to reshape the work place.

Next up we will be attending a meeting to help coordinate the Youth Statement, incorporating YOUR ideas, and further researching CSW to get an insight into the topics we will be discussing.

We hope to hear from you!

Rachel :)
