8 Days to Go!

With only 8 days to go, CSW61 is not far away now. Each day we are receiving a flurry of emails, deciding which parallel events we would like to attend and hearing about the opportunities we will have to network and liaise with international colleagues in New York.

This week at school, we are practising our speeches (which we will be delivering at the Church Centre of the United Nations) to each year in our school. This is a great way for us to practise in front of an audience and share our thoughts will other pupils.

The event Rachel is speaking at is being organised by Barnardo's SECOS on 13th March 2.30pm New York time. She will be discussing the importance of apprenticeships for young women in the changing world of work.

The event I will be speaking at is How to Ensure SDGs 1 & 8 Ensure Economic Empowerment of Women and Girls, organised by the UK NGO CSW Alliance at 12.30pm on Friday 17th March.

A big thanks to NAWO for giving us these opportunities to speak. Keep an eye on our blog as we will be posting lots about what we are up to next week!

We are also very excited to say that we will be attending the CSW61 Youth Forum on Saturday 11th March. This is a fantastic opportunity for young people from across the globe to convene before the Commission opens, to discuss and share their concerns about the economic empowerment of women.

Since many young people cannot attend this event, then If you would like to contribute your ideas to the Youth Forum, then fill out their online consultation at: https://www.empowerwomen.org/en/community/discussions/2017/02/have-your-say-csw61-youth

Yesterday, we set up a twitter account which we will be using over the next few weeks to share what we are up to. Follow us on @UN_GDST and follow us on Instagram at un_gdst .

Watch this space for more updates in the next few weeks, we are so grateful for all the support we have been receiving particularly with the Youth Statement (the final version to be posted soon!) and we would love to continue to share our thoughts with you as we approach CSW! :)
